Safety Data Sheets (SDS, formerly Materials Safety Data Sheets or MSDS) are key to identifying the hazards of a particular chemical or mix of chemicals. They contain vital information such as the appropriate PPE recommended for use when cleaning up a spill, important directions for first responders, and any potential health risks from exposure. These sheets can be easily accessed from the Safety Data Sheets tile, located on the Risk Management and Safety (RMS) website. However, in the event of a power or online network interruption to campus computers makes it difficult to retrieve an SDS, a backup option is now available to faculty, staff, and student researchers.

Chemical information from MSDS Online is now accessible anytime offline. A flash drive containing a current list of all chemicals in the online “eBinder” has been placed in our Notre Dame Dispatch center. Dispatchers are available to assist with SDS retrieval in emergency situations when access to the MSDSOnline eBinder is unavailable. The Notre Dame Dispatch Center can be reached at 631-5555.

Information on the flash drive will be refreshed quarterly to include new chemical additions and updated versions of SDS.
